We decided to venture into the small fishing village of Los Abrigos which is a short drive from our hotel.
We walk along the picturesque harbour and pass an amazing selection of fish restaurants and were spoilt for choice. We decide on our second choice and and was immediately met by a young Spanish waiter.
"Buenas tardes"
"Buenas tardes"
"English?"
"Si....... Yes"
Smiles all round as he escorts us to our seats. A wine list is shown and we proceed to order.
"Two glasses of white wine and a bottle of still water...... por favor"
He disappears returning with our order.
"Thank you"
He hands us the main menu
"What do you recommend?"
"Sea bass or Hake........ but all our fish on the menu are very nice"
We order and he disappears again and while we wait for our meal, we relax and watch the world go by in front of us. Our order arrived, we ate, we drank, we got lost in conversation whilst watching the locals in their boats getting on with their every day activities.
Yes the waiter was right....... the meal was indeed amazing, the fresh fish we ate were succulent.
Los Abrigos is a beautiful village and a must for visiting if you are ever in the vicinity. Here you will be able to sample a taste of the quieter side of their culture.
